“We've seen firsthand the impact FlightLogger has had on our European training centers in terms of scheduling accuracy and academic oversight. Expanding the platform to our U.S. operations was a natural next step.”

About OSM Aviation Academy

Founded in 1963 as Bromma Flygskola in Stockholm, OSM Aviation Academy is one of Europe's largest and most respected flight training institutions. It delivers airline-focused training in Sweden, Norway, and the United States, including FAA Part 141 integrated programs, flight instructor career paths, and Part 61 courses at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE), Florida, with a mission to deliver “Airline Ready” graduates.

The challenge

OSM has grown from around 50–60 students to roughly 350 across its operations. As Niklas Algotsson, Head of Training at OSM Aviation Academy, explains in The Climb podcast, growth changes much more than the numbers: the informal overview that works at a small academy disappears, and keeping common procedures, quality, and culture across several bases has to become systematic.

For OSM, that challenge spans two regulatory worlds. Its European centers train under EASA, while its Fort Lauderdale campus runs FAA Part 141 programs alongside Part 61 courses — each with its own curriculum structure, records, and oversight.

The solution

OSM implemented FlightLogger at its European training centers in 2020 to plan training programs, track student progress, book training, register class attendance, and handle internal communication in one system. When the U.S. academy needed a platform that could keep up with a growing student body, OSM moved it onto the system it already trusted, including the User Balance Module and QuickBooks integration.

One platform now runs FAA Part 141, Part 61 and EASA training — from scheduling and grading to billing.

The results

  • Centralized scheduling for ground and flight training across FAA Part 141 and Part 61 courses
  • Lesson grading and progress tracking with real-time insight for every student
  • Operational and financial workflows connected through QuickBooks
  • Training data used to monitor theory progression, exam attempts, training timeframes, and performance across program phases — and to fine-tune the training program where students struggled

As Martin Floor puts it, the transition lets OSM's team focus more on instructing and mentoring future pilots, while FlightLogger takes care of the complex administrative and compliance tasks. See how FlightLogger supports FAA-approved programs on FlightLogger for FAA Part 141 Schools.
